Shell Opens San Francisco’s First Hydrogen Stations

February 25th, 2020 by Fiedler Group

As reported by California Fuel Cell Partnership (CaFCP), Shell Oil® working in partnership with the California Energy Commission,  has opened three hydrogen fueling stations in San Francisco. The stations are the first hydrogen stations in San Francisco and are conveniently located at existing Shell gas stations.

The stations are sited at:

1201 Harrison Street, San Francisco, CACaFCP Press Release

551 3rd Street, San Francisco, CACaFCP Press Release

3550 Mission Street, San Francisco, CACaFCP Press Release

Each location has two fully independent hydrogen fuel dispensers that can fuel passenger vehicles with some of the most advanced technology available today. Each station’s capacity is 513 kilograms and the H70 dispensers are positioned under the existing gasoline canopy, providing a seamless and convenient availability of fuel to customers.

All three stations offer 100% renewable hydrogen from biogas. California Energy Commission requires that at least 33% of hydrogen fuel come from renewable sources.

The San Francisco area projects represents three of six facilities that Fiedler Group has designed, permitted, and managed construction for Shell.

Equipment and critical technology is provided by NEL Hydrogen®, partnered with an exceptional customer experience we have come to expect from Shell.

Construction of the new hydrogen fuel station on Harrison Street was provided by Fastech Inc. headquartered in Buena Park, California and construction of the 3rd Street and Mission Street stations were provided by NCI, LLC headquartered in Cape Coral, Florida.
