Clean Energy’s Natural Gas Highway

February 8th, 2012 by Fiedler Group

Across interstate highways and major metropolitan areas, a network of liquefied natural gas (LNG) truck fueling stations are being built by Clean Energy — America’s largest provider of natural gas fuel for transportation.

Clean Energy LNG highwayFor heavy-duty vehicle applications — such as long-haul trucks — LNG is the most viable option for long-range use.

That’s why major highway segments planned include San Diego-Los Angeles-Riverside-Las Vegas; the Texas Triangle (Houston-San Antonio-Dallas/Ft. Worth); Los Angeles-Dallas; Houston-Chicago; Chicago-Atlanta; and a network of stations along corridors in the Mid-West region.

The first phase of the Natural Gas Highway includes 150 fueling stations; 70 of which are scheduled to be open in 33 states by the end of 2012.

Benefits of LNG fuel include:

  • Up to $1.50 per gallon savings
  • High-mileage truck cost payback less than a year
  • Lowers greenhouse gas emissions
  • Reduces dependence on imported oil
  • Creates job
  • Grows our economy
