A survey of retailers released last month by the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) highlighted positive overall sales at convenience stores in 2017 and optimism for 2018.

Healthy foods and beverage sales drove food service sales last year with almost 70 % of convenience retailers citing foodservice sales increases.

Convenience stores, which sell an estimated 80% of the fuel purchased in the United States, also realized increased gasoline sales – over 50% of retailers noted fuel sales increases in 2017.

The NACS Consumer Survey also identified strong consumer optimism over economic prospects, noting that there appeared to be a direct correlation between our customers’ view of the economy and their use of disposable income in our marketplace.

Over 100 companies participated in the December 2017 NACS Retailer Sentiment Survey which tracks retailer sentiment related to their businesses, the industry and the economy.
