According to Growth Energy, a biofuel trade association representing producers and supporters of ethanol throughout the country, the number of fueling sites offering E15 has tripled over the past year.

Further, the report indicates there are more than 1,000 locations serving U.S. drivers who have traveled a total of 2 billion miles on the 15% ethanol blend.

“This latest milestone cements the fact that drivers have embraced the tremendous benefits E15 offers and highlights just how rapidly consumer demand is growing,” said Emily Skor, CEO of the Washington, D.C.-based Growth Energy.

The trade association also noted that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has approved E15 for use in flex-fuel vehicles (FFVs) and vehicle models 2001 and newer, representing more than 87% of vehicles on the road.

In related ethanal blending news, the Washington based A partial list of fuel retailers offering E15 includes Casey’s General Stores, Cenex, Family Express, Kum & Go, Kwik Trip, MAPCO, Minnoco, Murphy USA, Protec Fuel, QuikTrip, RaceTrac, Sheetz and Thorntons.

Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) has reported through E85prices.com that more than 4,000 fueling sites now offer E85, the 85% ethanol blend, serving more than 22 million FFV’s.

Noting that the highest growth in number of locations offering E85 has been in states such as California, Texas, Florida, North Carolina and Pennsylvania, Robert White, vice president of industry relations for RFA said “This expansion allows consumers with FFVs in many areas the opportunity to fuel with E85 for the first time. We applaud retailers for increasing efforts to bring further consumer choice to the market and we look forward to more stations opening up in the future.”
